Just over an hour north of Cairns in Far North Queensland, Atherton State High School is a co-educational school of almost 800 students, years 8-12. The students are residents of the Tablelands area as well as remote students who board in the community. The school also welcomes students from all over the world who study as part of the international student program.
Atherton State High School plays an important role in the development of the Tablelands community, with school programs tailored to match this need.
The school undertakes extensive community consultation to better inform and shape decisions around pathways and programs for 21st century learning. The goal of providing contemporary learning in a socially inclusive and equitable framework is embedded in the school's ethos.
